First Look: Velour By Nostalgi x Sperry Top-Sider Footwear
Pair Produce Festival Friendly Footwear
Festival goers could soon swap Wellington boots for trainers thanks to a new collaboration from Velour by Nostalgi and Sperry Top-Sider. The Gothenburg-based label has reworked styles from the American shoe brand to suit wet weather conditions often found at outdoor events. The result is what the pair describe as a “clean take on a classic sneaker, perfectly suited for autumnal adventuring”. Adapting Sperry Top-Sider’s Chukka and CVO silhouettes, the updated models consist of a water-resistant rubber coated upper, with heat welded seams inspired by classic Scandinavian rain jackets. Both shoes come in red, white and blue, each finished with metal eyelets and dual branding on the tongue. No stranger to putting its footwear in the hands of other brands, Sperry Top-Sider, founded in 1935, has collaborated with the likes of Penfield and Band of Outsiders in the past. Founded years later, the Nostalgi brand launched in 1997 after Per Andersson reopened his grandmother’s ready-to-wear shop, following its closure the eighties. Andersson launched Nostalgi’s first own brand collection, Velour, in 2005. The Velour by Nostalgi x Sperry Top-Sider collection will be available from late October at select retailers such as Oi Polloi. Prices start at £75 for the CVO shoe and £85 for the Chukka boot.
