Mr Porter x Wooyoungmi

Online Store Welcomes Another Exclusive Line

Mr Porter has revealed its third collaboration in under a month. The premium e-tailer has teamed up with South Korean-menswear label Wooyoungmi, shortly after revealing projects with both Hentsch Man and Ami. An exclusive capsule collection containing nine pieces, including a T-shirt, shorts, trainers, shirt and portfolio, has been designed as a continuation of the brand’s own spring 2014 line. The launch features digital cactus print, as well as suede and snake skin. A key item within the range is a reversible bomber jacket, according to founder Ms Woo Youngmi. The designer, commonly known as Madame Woo, went on to say that men’s coats are always central to collections. “I looked to create a capsule collection that was a natural evolution of my spring/summer collection and its interpretation by artist Kyung Woo Han,” she said. “I was inspired by the colours of nature’s minimal landscape — a sky blue, a desert terracotta and a cactus green.” Having made her mark as the first menswear ready-to-wear designer in Korea back in 1988, Youngmi started her own company in 2002. The campaign for the summer range has been shot by Nacho Alegre and features Catalan sprinter Xavier Serrano. It comes as Mr Porter announces Google Glass will be made available to US customers later this month. Plans to reunite in AW14 are already underway for Wooyoungmi and the online store. The current collection is available now on MrPorter.com, with prices ranging from £120 for a printed cotton-jersey T-shirt, to £395 for an unstructured jersey blazer.
