Tales of the Macallan Limited Series Celebrates Brand’s History
Whisky tastemaker The Macallan is releasing the first installment of “Tales of Macallan,” the new limited edition series dedicated to the history of the famous brand.
Tales of The Macallan Volume I, The Laird of Easter Elchies, is the inaugural limited edition single malt whisky in the new collection.
The Macallan
“Tales of The Macallan Volume I is a tribute to Captain John Grant, who paved the way for The Macallan and brought the influence of nature and community spirit,” said Sarah Burgess, Lead Whisky Maker at The Macallan.
“As custodians of the estate, we are continuously inspired by our environment, upholding our responsibility to nurture and protect the wonderful natural habitat that is home to our distillery.”
The decanters for this first release are handcrafted by Lalique Crystal, each of which is packaged in a leather-bound book, with suitable space for the precious decanter incorporated into the pages.
Well-known British artist Andrew Davidson created illustrations that tell the story of John Grant.
The whisky for this exclusive bottling was distilled in 1950 and bottled in 2021. At 70 years old it’s the perfect complement to the Lalique bottle and bound book.
“Just like The Macallan Estate and Easter Elchies House, this precious whisky echoes of a very old tale,” said Burgess.
“Wood spices, sweet wood smoke, and antique oak are omnipresent and make a perfect liaison with the delicate symphony of ripe fruits and spices.“
Bottled at 44.6% alcohol by volume (ABV), there will be 350 decanters made available. Each bottle will £60,000 (Approx $82,600 USD)
