Boxfresh Menswear: AW13 Collection
Boxfresh Autumn/Winter 2013
British street label Boxfresh has released their AW13 collection of ethnic-inspired casual wear and wardrobe basics. The campaign imagery uses urban London as its backdrop, with Brit model Ashton Gohil fronting the campaign. The campaign perfectly captures the feel of the collection and the label as whole: casual with a gritty youthful edge. The collection comprises denim, knitwear, tees, shorts and coats, with shoes and accessories rounding out the offering. These wardrobe essentials are injected with prints and colour pops and produced in premium fabrics, creating a range that is both versatile and perfect for the transition into the colder months. The clothing collection is split into two sets: the ‘Inca’ and ‘Geometric Pack’. The Inca set derives its inspiration from the Ecuadorian and Peruvian Inca Empire – specifically their artisanal patterns and prints. The pieces in the range take key elements from these influences and give them a contemporary twist, so you’ll avoid looking like a backpacker who went nuts at the Machu Picchu market stalls. The Bietal is a highlight: a mid-length parka coat with detachable print gilet lining. In the campaign lookbook, Ashton wears the coat in blue, although it’s also available in red. The jacket features a drawstring hood, zip front and angled breast pocket, plus a double placket front fastening. When zipped up the jacket is a solid block-colour but when unzipped, its Inca print panels are exposed, with a fully lined hood. The panels have an updated interpretation of the ethnic print with a tonal blue and yellow palette complementing the navy outer. The Geometric Pack is a continuation of an SS13 pattern originally taken from the Boxfresh archives. The pieces feature subtle patterned detailing, or make a real statement via all-over prints. The Lakshiya tee is a stand out piece, featuring a triangle geometric print in a soft hand-knitted cotton mix. Overall, the collection offers classic wardrobe staples but updated with vibrant patterns and prints in high quality fabrics that are durable enough for everyday wear. The ethic prints work extremely well, with references taken but updated and refined for a more wearable and fashion-led result. Shop the collection at various stockists and online at boxfresh.co.uk.
