Rare 1994 Bugatti EB 110 GT Prototype Up for Auction

In 1987 entrepreneur Romano Artioli purchased the Bugatti trading name with a view to bringing the automobile company to a new generation of car lovers. Unfortunately for the Italian things didn’t go to plan, with the company going bankrupt in 1995 before eventually being revived by the Volkswagen Group in 1998. During Artioli’s short reign he did manage to see one car hit the market, the 1994 Bugatti EB 110 GT.

Taking influence from a number of luxurious sports cars, the Bugatti EB 110 GT is an often overlooked machine in the Bugatti catalog. Taking inspiration from the classic Lamborghini design of the 80s, this blue beast is a historic automobile that’s now up for sale via Copley Motorcars.

It took some time before Artioli was happy with the design of the car, recruiting several high-profile designers including Marcello Ghandini, designer of the Miura, Countach, and Diablo, Paolo Stanzani, technical director with Lamborghini with the Miura and Countach, and Nicola Materazzi, designer of the Bugatti 288 GTO and F40. The end result is a carbon fiber monocoque with signature scissor doors, magnesium alloy wheels, a permanent all-wheel drive, and an adjustable rear wing.

Under the hood is a quad-turbo V12 engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Capable of reaching 0 – 60 in 3.5 seconds flat, the EB 110 GT also has a top speed of 212 mph, making it rather quick for a 90s sportscar.

Finished in Bugatti blue with plush grey interiors, including a grey steering wheel, this particular model is a factory prototype used for testing, as evident by the 680 miles on the odometer. The Bugatti was fully restored before being sold to its first owner in 2000. It was then shipped to the U.S. where its current owner is looking to sell.
