In the world of cars, SUVs, and trucks, the recent fanfare around the Lexus ROV Concept is causing people to take notice of the company’s new and innovative measures.

ROV stands for Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle; this is where Lexus is now causing a stir as its entrance into this category was a little unexpected (considering its overall luxury vehicle lineup). Regardless, plenty of folks have been pleasantly surprised by the bold move.

The Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle marks Lexus’ entrance into the UTV segment on the high-end side. The three-cylinder engine is 1.0-liter, powered by compressed hydrogen via a direct hydrogen injector.

The hydrogen engine would offer almost zero emissions as well as the ability to manage some pretty extreme off-road conditions. Fans of the action have stated that the concept vehicle shows that Lexus is committing to exploring the existence of a carbon-free society for the future.

Lexus has not yet released the details on the power figures, but the current design language paired to Lexus was abundantly clear in elements like the front fascia and panels. 

Inside, a two-seat cabin brings to mind the brand’s commitment to a “human-centered” modality. The internal layout is inspired by the Tazuna concept. There is an easy-to-read meter that displays the most relevant information for controlling the vehicle without concern.

The standards one would expect in an off-road concept are there, too. There’s plenty of fun to be had aboard with an exposed suspension, a set of large off-road tires, and a sturdy protective cage. 

Currently, the ride remains a concept; there has been no statement on whether the carmaker would produce the ROV for the general public in the near or distant future.
