This Rare Bugatti Divo Features a Custom Diamond Paint Job

The Bugatti Divo is on the rare side, with only 40 ever being made. Not only are they in limited quantity, but the hypercar is one of the most customizable Bugattis on the market. That’s certainly the case with this Divo “Lady Bug” that features a custom 1,600 diamond paint job.

Built for an American client who had an idea for a geometric-dynamic algorithmic fading pattern, this one-of-a-kind paint job took an incredible year-and-a-half to complete. The designers ran into problems when they tried to apply the pattern to the Divo, with the car’s numerous curves and contours proving a problem. Eventually, they managed to get a pattern that worked, and the 1,600 diamonds in red and graphite were “painted” onto the Divo’s body.

The end result is spectacular, but also pricey, with the paint job rumored to have cost an additional $1 million on top of the $5 million the owner paid for the car itself.

“Every Bugatti Divo is one of a kind. With the custom-made ‘Lady Bug,’ Bugatti has demonstrated the full range of its customization expertise. What initially seemed impossible was executed to perfection by the designers and developers in collaboration with the customer,” says Stephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti.

“We are proud to have matched the customer’s personal taste and expectations with this unique Divo. The car really demonstrates what the marque is capable of in terms of creativity and craftsmanship.”

Under the hood is an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine capable of 1,479 hp and a tasty 1,600 Nm of torque. It also has a top speed of 236 mph, so it’s no slouch when it comes to pace.
