Paul Smith Sunshine & Extreme Sport Fragrances

Paul Smith Launches Two New Scents

Paul Smith has announced plans for two new fragrances for men this spring. The arrivals will join popular existing scents from the brand, including Man 2, London and the recently released Portrait. The first to launch, Sunshine, is a reference to the image Sir Paul is known to add to the signature of his personal letters. A limited edition fragrance, it features top notes of coriander leaves, grapefruit and black peppercorns, a heart of coriander seeds, nutmeg and star fruit, and is underscored by a foundation of incense, moss and sandalwood. Extreme Sport is a reinvention of the 2003 classic Paul Smith fragrance, Extreme. The latest version builds on the original foundation of bergamot, geranium, tonka bean and incense, with grapefruit, Moroccan mint and cedar wood. The athletic world has long been a part of Sir Paul’s life: “I’m passionate about sport and wanted to create a fragrance that embodies all the things I love about it,” he says. The 67-year old got his first bicycle at the age of eleven and went on to compete at a junior level: “My dream was to become a professional cyclist,” says the designer. Despite an accident that brought the dream to an end aged sixteen, Sir Paul has maintained his connection to sport through his work. Among other projects, the English menswear firm has produced the leaders’ jerseys for the Italian cycle race Giro d’Italia as well as suits for Manchester United Football Club. Paul Smith’s Sunshine fragrance will be available at department stores nationwide from March 31st, priced at £31. Extreme Sport launches exclusively in Boots on April 2nd and goes on general release on May 5th. Prices range from £22.59 for the 30ml bottle to £38.50 for the 100ml bottle.
