Native Youth Clothing
Native Youth SS13
British label Native Youth have unveiled their début spring/summer collection for 2013. The brand blends Scandinavian and Japanese influences within their 55-piece collection, evident through their use of clean lines and minimal silhouettes. Though classic and simple in cut, the collection utilises on trend pattern and print heavily, with camouflage, Hawaiian, tie-dye, micro-print and stripes all making an appearance. As their name suggests, youth is very much at the forefront of the label, with the range predominantly consisting of basics such as tees, shirts, denim and outerwear – all essential pieces in the teen to twenty-something guy’s wardrobe. The stand out pieces within the collection have to be the all-over camo shorts and jacket. Although we would refrain from styling them both together, as in the lookbook, the controversial print is bound to make a statement and will add a fashion-forward edge to any outfit. If this particular outfit a bit too ‘out there’ for your personal style, an excellent alternative comes in the form of simple black shorts with a camo turn-up – allowing you to wear the trend in a more subtle manner. The Hawaiian print short-sleeved shirt is another favourite, featuring moss green palm trees and blue skies against an off-white base. Wear on holiday with a pair of neutral tailored shorts and loafers to let the shirt do all the talking, or tuck it into your favourite pair of indigo jeans and finish with masculine boots for a rockabilly-inspired look. Overall, the collection manages to balance clean, minimal silhouettes with vivid colours and strong prints to create a wide range of basics that cannot fail to get you noticed this SS13.
