F1 Driver Lewis Hamilton Scores $50 Million for Triplex Penthouse

The F1 season might not have ended the way British driver Lewis Hamilton wanted, but at least he can cry himself to sleep knowing he netted $50 million for the sale of his New York triplex penthouse. The recently knighted Hamilton finally sold the luxurious home after it was on the market for two years without any takers.

The Mercedes driver originally purchased the penthouse in 2017, but just a few months later, splashed the cash on an even more expensive home a few blocks away. He didn’t even find the time to move into the 8,900-square-foot Tribeca abode, instead deciding to put it back on the market. Initially asking for $57 million, the price soon dropped to $52 million before an anonymous buyer forked over $49.5 million for the condo.

Located in a 19th-century building that was once a bookbinding factory, the penthouse has six bedrooms, six bathrooms, and two half baths spread across three floors. A private elevator services all three floors with many details of the original building still intact, including 20-foot-high ceilings, exposed pine beams, and huge restored windows offering spectacular views of Manhatten.

The first floor features an expansive living area, den, and a chef’s kitchen sure to impress any foodie. Designed by Christopher Peacock, the large kitchen is built around a Calcutta marble island and is packed with premium appliances from Wolf, Subzero, and Gaggenau.

On the second level, you will find the bedrooms, including the master suite that comes with a private study, a morning bar, a deep soaking tub, and a giant walk-in closet.

The third level is a massive lounge area with accordion-fold glass doors that open to a number of terraces. There’s also a wet bar, powder room, and plunge pool. Other amenities the building offers come in the form of a swimming pool, gym, children’s playroom, and other outdoor areas.
