Ken Block's Latest Build Is the Audi S1 E-tron Quattro Hoonitron

Ken Block is a living legend in the drift scene and he continues to push the boundaries of the automotive world with his latest creation. The Audi S1 E-tron Quattro Hoonitron is a one-of-a-kind electric racer that will feature in Block’s upcoming Elektrikhana video. This is an extension of his Gymkhana franchise that features Block and others trying to record the fastest lap times of incredible drift tracks.

Speaking on the collaboration, Block said, “Audi has now developed this car for me and my team, and has joined us in our next project. [It] has made a dream come true for me. The Hoonitron is writing the next chapter in our history and taking our Gymkhana story into the future.”

The car is designed by the same folk who built Audi’s RS E-tron GT, which is one of the more fancied electric cars on the market. Its sleek shape is based on the famous Group B-derived Quattro S1 that raced at Pikes Peak, as confirmed by Audi’s chief designer Marc Licht: “It was about creating a modern, all-electric interpretation of the S1 Pikes Peak. The timeline was extremely tight: while our design process normally takes one to one-and-a-half years, we only had four weeks from the first drawing to the final design. We were constantly in touch with Ken Block and his team and engaged in intensive exchanges.”

When compared to the original S1 it’s plain to see the similarities, although Block’s version has a few modern touches. The box shape now features curves while the front and rear spoilers have been tweaked for greater aerodynamics. The fenders have also been widened, the roof scoop redesigned, and the front grille given a makeover.

Built around a carbon fiber chassis, the Audio has an all-wheel drive, turbofan-style wheels, and is compliable with FIA racing standards. Powered by two electric motors, no stats have been released in regards to performance, but expect this Audio to do the business.
