Good organic shampoos are difficult to find in the market and, if found, they are usually expensive, which is why I’ll tell you how to make organic shampoo. Making an all-natural shampoo at home has many benefits – organic ingredients, affordability, fewer components, and understanding its pH balance, to name a few.

How to Make Your Own Shampoo Bar?

I’ll tell you how to make your shampoo bar – prepare the following ingredients:

– 2/3 cups each of olive oil, coconut oil, and avocado oil (you may also use other oils like sweet almond, castor, wheat germ, etc.).

– Distilled water – about ¾ cups. Take note that only distilled water should be used in the process.

– Lye – ¼ cup. Lye is NaOH or sodium hydroxide used for saponification. Suppose you are wondering – can you make shampoo bars without lye, or afraid to use the ingredient due to its nature. In that case, note that when correctly done, the lye is completely used up in the saponification process. Your final homemade shampoo bar will have no lye in it.

– Essential oils, if needed.

Follow these steps now:

1. Put on your protective gear, including, coat, gloves, and goggles. Melt oils and keep them and water ready/measured.
