Digital Photography Review describes the Sony RX100 V as ‘the world’s most advanced vlogging camera that YouTubers use – it comes with a 1″-type sensor’, and it’s also the most expensive one. Priced at around $1000, it’s definitely not cheap.

Both the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II and the Sony RX100 V are excellent cameras, but they offer very different video capture. Neither of them is necessarily better – it’s down to personal preference. 

A few things that make the Sony RX100 V stand out from the Canon PowerShot G7 Mark II. First of all the colours and the sharpness of the image are different.

Sony cameras have a distinctly softer lens – the way that the camera captures video is much smoother, which is excellent if you are filming yourself, for example.

The camera will blur out your skin ever so slightly, so that your imperfections don’t stand out as much as with the Canon PowerShot G7X II.

The colours on this Sony camera are slightly more dull when compared to the Canon PowerShot, but again, it’s up to preference if this is a good things or a bad thing.

However, what stands out about this camera is it’s excellent speed at auto focusing – the camera will find your face (or any object you’re filming) extremely quickly even in low lit conditions, which explains why it’s an excellent vlogging camera that YouTubers use consistently.

If you’re switching between objects, the change between what is in focus will be seamless.

The camera also has the option to shoot 4k video, and it also shoots up to 24 images per second – this is great if you’re looking for a camera that will also catch images very quickly.

One of it’s best features is also the excellent slow-mo effect, which enables the user to get even more creative.

However, if you’re just starting out on your vlogging journey, you probably won’t need this camera.
