The British Belt Company Launch Countryside-Inspired Bags

The humble backpack has been re-designed for spring using British fabrics. Fresh off the back of a collaboration with J&E Sedgwick, The British Belt Company has used homegrown materials to create a new range of carriers. Inspired by British sporting and countryside activities, both Millerain Waxed Cotton and Harris Tweed make an appearance in the bags. Sarah Whitehead, Design Manager for The British Belt Company, told FashionBeans: “Each backpack has been designed to complement our British fabrics, whilst allowing it to be multi-functional with draw string closure and mag dot fastening.” “The Broashaw backpack is unique with its double zip flap, made using the on trend Blackwatch check,” she added. The range includes the Highland Harris Tweed, Caledonian and Hawford backpack, each retailing for £200. Products using the famous Harris Tweed are made in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland. The material dates back centuries, made in cottages before the yarns are sent to the mills of Stornoway to produce the final cloth. The British Belt Company hand-crafts its products in Rutland, England’s smallest county. The firm, which is part of family business Arnold Wills and Co Ltd, began in 1946. It also makes other leather goods including belts, wallets and braces.
