Levi’s RED Archive Clothing Collection
Levi’s RED Archive
Progressive conceptual retailers LN-CC have released a new limited edition archive collection from Levi Strauss and Co. The new archive venture focuses on Levi’s infamous RED series. Known for the often complicated and always experimental nature of its pieces, Levi’s RED was first launched in 1999 and demonstrated how drastic and effective a reinvention the classic 5-pocket jean could withstand. Since its inception, the new aesthetic forms RED introduced have been built upon by seven additional collections over the past fifteen years.
With the arrival of the first all-new RED collection in seven years imminent, LN-CC are showcasing a premium concept collection to be available for purchase exclusively from the LN-CC website.
The pieces in the archive have been carefully culled from the original 1999 RED range, which was known as ‘Twisted Red’ and was considered a key turning point in the evolution of the humble denim jean.
The archive collection also serves as a refresher course for the impending 2014 RED line, which is entitled ‘Lined RED’ and will also be available exclusively from the LN-CC website.
‘Lined RED’ focuses on what’s inside the jeans and looks even further back than the 1990s, drawing inspiration from Levi’s innovative use of blanket fabrics and sheep’s wool, which have been utilised for linings within their denim pieces as far back as 1879.
Whilst the nucleus of the project lies in lining, a considered yet playful approach is taken to the construction and detailing of the pieces – lightly referencing items from Levi’s back catalogue and offering radical new interpretations.
The RED archive is available now from LN-CC.com, whilst the ‘Lined RED’ series will be available from next year.
