Katie Eary Menswear: AW14 Collection
Abstract Prints Lead Designer’s Winter Line-Up
Abstract portraits and a cartoon character are the focus of British designer Katie Eary’s AW14 ready-to-wear collection, which has just seen public release.
First previewed at London Collections: Men back in January this year, the line combines a palette of black, red, orange and green across motif and pattern printed pieces.
Leading the way is a selection of collaged ‘psycho’ portraits, arranged in a cut-and-stick style to form abstract images. Eary’s signature Mohawk graphic has also been added, along with sketched silhouettes of Mickey Mouse.
The photographic features overlay plain shirts, t-shirts and sweatshirts, as well as leopard print shirts and slim-cut trousers. Finishing the range is a distorted grid check print, interrupted with leopard spots.
While London-based Eary’s AW14 collection looked to the punks of 1970s Britain for inspiration, her SS15 Rodeo collection revealed in June of this year references Oscar-winning film Dallas Buyers Club. Last month the Royal College of Art graduate was selected to be a part of the British Designers Collective at Bicester Village.
Katie Eary’s AW14 collection is available now via her webstore and select stockists, including Ssense. Prices start from £215 for t-shirts, £325 for shirts and £350 for hoodies and trousers.
