Jamie Foxx to Portray Mike Tyson in Biopic About the Boxing Champ

Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx has been confirmed to play Mike Tyson in a forthcoming biographical series. The Miami Vice and Collateral star has been attached to a Tyson biopic for a number of years, with Variety reporting he’s been training for this role since last year.

Foxx isn’t the only big name involved, with Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Shooter) on board to direct and executive produce via Fuqua Films, and Martin Scorcese (Goodfellas, The Irishman) executive producing via Sikelia Productions. Foxx is also executive producing along with Tyson and his wife, Kiki Tyson, Sophie Watts and John Ryan Jr. on behalf of Tyson’s Legends Only League, and Rick Yorn of LBI Entertainment. Azim Spicer of Legends Only League will serve as associated producer.

The show, currently titled Tyson, will cover Iron Mike’s entire life, from his childhood through to his in-ring career and his time spent in jail.

“I have been looking to tell my story for quite some time,” Tyson said. “With the recent launch of Legends Only League and the excitement from fans following my return to the ring, now feels like the perfect moment. I look forward to collaborating with Martin, Antoine, Jamie, and the entire creative team to bring audiences a series that not only captures my professional and personal journey but also inspires and entertains.”

Tyson hasn’t been given a release date and is not believed to be attached to any major networks or streaming services, although that will surely change in the coming weeks. Until then, check out The Baddest Man on the Planet’s best knockouts below.
