Ford's New 2022 F-150 Tremor 4×4 Is a Rugged Behemoth for Work or Play

Ford’s family of rugged off-road trucks is about to get a whole lot bigger with the release of the all-new 2021 F-150 Tremor 4×4. Delivering hardworking hardware to take on any and all obstacles, it’s time to put away the toys and take the wheel of a real truck.

Labeled a direct response to how customers use their trucks “to enable their outdoor lifestyles” by Ford truck group marketing manager Todd Eckert, the company builds upon the likes of the Super Duty Tremor and Ranger Tremor with additional off-road capabilities for getting you lost in the wild. Whether it’s plowing through cornfields, out on a dirty two-track, trawling through a muddy bog, or up on some rock-covered trail, the F-150 Tremor has everything Ford can offer.

Powering the high-strength steel frame and military-grade aluminum-alloy body of the Ford F-150 Tremor is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission. Keeping everything steady is the upgraded suspension system with retuned springs front and rear for increased ground clearance which helps keep the tires more firmly in contact with the terrain. Speaking of tires, get ready for massive 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires mounted on unique matte-finish 18-inch wheels. Offering greater ground clearance and a 1-inch wider stance, you’ll have all the confidence in the world when you head off-road.

Joining them are front hub knuckles and a pair of revised upper control arms. Tuned for softer damping at low speeds, the Tremor-specific monotube shocks at the front and twin-tube shocks at the rear include additional damping and control for off-roading on another level.

When it comes to towing, the F-150 ain’t no pushover. Capable of towing a maximum of 10,900 pounds, it doesn’t matter whether you’re pulling a yacht or a few RVs – the Tremor does it with ease. Packing the back is just as impressive, with a maximum payload rating of 1,885 pounds. Plus, with 2.0 kilowatts of exportable power via the Pro Power Onboard, you can juice up your entire kit all night long.
