David Beckham To Launch His Own Clothing Line?
Beckham Fuels Own Brand Rumours
David Beckham could soon break away from H&M if reports of the sports star setting up his own label are true. Trade publication WWD began speculation early this week by revealing the former footballer had been seen in a number of meetings with consumer goods company Li & Fung. The industry now expects David to follow wife Victoria with a full time fashion role. While no announcement has been made, this could mean the end of Beckham’s Bodywear line at H&M. The 38-year-old Brit might wish to absorb the range, which as of last week includes swimwear, into his own eponymous brand. Simon Fuller, CEO of XIX Entertainment and force behind Victoria’s highly successful label, has apparently been hired to act as an adviser to the would-be designer, fuelling rumours. It is anticipated that Beckham’s first foray will maintain his career roots, focusing on casual sportswear. The move would complement the father-of-four’s experience working with adidas Originals on a series of collaborations. Other global brands managed by Hong-Kong based Li & Fung include Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and Juicy Couture. Any further news regarding the launch of a Beckham lifestyle brand will be reported on the FashionBeans news feed.
