Aesop Marrakech Intense Fragrance

Grooming Label Updates Original Scent

Aussie skincare brand Aesop plans to release an update of its debut fragrance this autumn. Marrakech Intense follows on from the original of the same name, almost a decade after it first launched.

A 2014 version will offer a reinterpretation of the aromas inspired by the Moroccan city, according to a statement.

Bosses called in perfume designer Barnabé Fillion to create the scent. The French ‘nose’, who has previously created products for the likes of Le Labo and Paul Smith, has added Egyptian jasmine, bergamot and Neroli.

On his first outing with Aesop, Fillion says: “Together, these three components secure the top notes’ freshness. Marrakech Intense can be seen as an innovation in the tradition.”

The Woody, unisex product will sit alongside the brand’s only other fragrance, Mystra. It is yet to be confirmed whether Aesop will phase out the initial Marrakech.

Founded in Melbourne in 1987, at the last count the brand had 61 stores worldwide, as well as being housed in department stores across London, New York, Paris and Hong Kong.

Marrakech Intense will be available in two forms – a 50ml eau de toilette (£53) and 10ml parfum roll-on (£63) – when it launches in Aesop stores, selected stockists and online this September.
