10.Deep Clothing: Holiday 2013 Collection

10.Deep Holiday 2013

One of New York’s original streetwear brands, 10.Deep, is continuing to test the limits of menswear with their latest lookbook. Drawing on influences as diverse as graffiti, punk, skater culture and hip-hop, the holiday 2013 ‘Midnight’ lookbook aims to manipulate the notion of ‘transitional’ clothing. What started in 1995 as a label of shirts, hats, trousers and accessories has now evolved into a boundary-pushing concept – injecting functional garments with bright colours and patterns ordinarily saved for warmer weather. Announced through a news update, 10.Deep dubs the idea a: “Symbolic crossroads between the past and future”. This concept is clearly evident, with the brand’s mainline autumn 2013 collection representative of a day to evening period, whilst the holiday collection takes a darker route, symbolic of night. The character for ‘Midnight’ can’t be concentrated into a single look, however. From one angle, 10.Deep’s inspiration from Neo Tokyo emerges as a brighter colour palette, whilst Hawaiian shirt-like prints make the H3 Altitude Tech Jacket pop, and turns an international flag pattern into an intricate colour-blocked grid. Streetwear’s signature athletic influence also comes to the fore through jersey cuts, graphics on sweatshirts and snapbacks alluding to the Winter Olympics. Cuts and constructions embody practicality and, outside of colour, offer a utilitarian look. Cargo pants, hoodies, denim jackets, button-downs and Oxfords expand the collection far beyond its grittier roots. The latest Holiday 2013 phase became available as of November 25th.
