Worn By x EMI T-Shirts
Worn By x EMI
Music lovers, pay attention – you’re gonna like this one – especially if you’re a fan of your graphic tees, which are imperative in any wardrobe, and particularly while we sit in the midst of our own little heatwave. If you haven’t heard of t-shirt label Worn By, here’s a brief intro: the brand, which was established in 2004, is dedicated to capturing the most iconic and infamous moments in rock history through their expansive selection of simple yet cool t-shirt designs. You might already be inadvertently aware of the brand – Ryan Gosling is a fan, having previously been spotted wearing their ‘Kevin’ tee. Although not the first Kevin you would associate with rock & roll, the graphic print featured Macaulay Culkin at the height of his Home Alone fame, when he was first introduced to music mogul Michael Jackson. Continuously collaborating with original artists, musicians and photographers, last season saw the brand working with the iconic LIFE magazine – perhaps best known as its incarnation as an all-photography magazine throughout the late 1930s to early 1970s. The latest pairing for the July product drop has seen Worn By working with vintage record label EMI. Now defunct, the label was established in 1931 as a result of the merging of the Gramophone Company and Columbia Graphophone Company, opening the infamous Abbey Road studios the same year. Yes, the same studio where Pink Floyd and The Beatles recorded the majority of their albums, with the latter shooting the unbelievably iconic album cover at the zebra crossing right outside. The resulting t-shirts feature archived logos from the record label, with each of the vintage-inspired designs being tentatively cared for, using the best fabrics and washes, stitch detailing and print techniques to achieve a truly authentic finish. An additional detail: each t-shirt also comes with its own unique Polaroid-style hang tag, which details the influence behind the print. With each t-shirt design coming in or around the £30 mark, there’s no excuse not to invest in some sun appropriate tees (that will get you some serious musical kudos) this season.
