1. The Big Lebowski (1998)

Coming to Netflix: June 1

Language: English

The skinny: The Coen Brothers have made some of the craziest movies in history, and the story of the Dude (Jeff Bridges) could just be the craziest. The Big Lebowski was right in the thick of our top 40 movies of the 1990s.

An all-star cast makes this tale of mistaken identity a great ensemble flick, with Julianne Moore (Still Alice), Steve Buscemi (Fargo), John Goodman (King Ralph), Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Capote), and John Turturro all on hand to play unforgettable characters (seeing Flea and Peter Stormare ham it up as Nihilists is pure genius).

I have a Walter Sobchak action figure, and a rug that really ties the room together. Watch it, then watch it again with a White Russian. The Big Lebowski is amazing.

2. Cradle 2 the Grave (2003)

Coming to Netflix: June 1

Language: English

The skinny: With DMX’s untimely death earlier this year, streaming services are making sure the late rapper/actor’s material is available to fans and casuals alike.

For a brief period, DMX was a singular action star, teaming up with icons like Jet Li and Steven Seagal in some of the early 2000s most entertaining Hong Kong-style flicks. Cradle 2 the Grave was the best of these roles, with DMX and Li taking on kidnappers, criminal gangs, and bad jewelers.
