The Rock and Ryan Reynolds Join Forces To Hunt Down Gal Gadot in Netflix's 'Red Notice'
Netflix has been on a hot run of late, with many films produced by the streaming giant doing record numbers. From last year’s Chris Hemsworth starring action hit Extraction (99 million views) to this year’s zombie flick Army of the Dead (75 million views), Netflix seems to have found a formula that works. This looks set to continue with the release of the first trailer for action blockbuster Red Notice.
Not only does this film star Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson, arguably the biggest movie star in the world, but also features Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot. While Rocky has shared the screen with Reynolds in Hobbs & Shaw and Gadot in Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6, and Reynolds and Gadot both appeared in the 2016 sleeper Criminal, it’s the first time all three have been in a film together.
Written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (who has worked with the Rock before on Skyscraper and Central Intelligence), the loose plot of the film follows Johnson’s FBI profiler and Reynolds thief teaming up to track down Gadot’s art criminal. Check out the official and more in-depth synopsis below:
When an Interpol-issued Red Notice – the highest level warrant to hunt and capture the world’s most wanted – goes out, the FBI’s top profiler John Hartley (Dwayne Johnson) is on the case. His global pursuit finds him smack dab in the middle of a daring heist where he’s forced to partner with the world’s greatest art thief Nolan Booth (Ryan Reynolds) in order to catch the world’s most wanted art thief, “The Bishop” (Gal Gadot). The high-flying adventure that ensues takes the trio around the world, across the dance floor, trapped in a secluded prison, into the jungle and, worst of all for them, constantly into each other’s company.
Red Notice looks like a lot of fun, with Reynolds in charming wise cracker mode, Gadot providing some femme fatale action, and Johnson being, well, Johnson. Hopefully, this one can live up to the trailer, as all three stars have released less than impressive films of late, particularly Johnson, who just can’t quite seem to find a vehicle that works.
