Highland Park is one of the most visited parks in Rochester. This botanical garden covers over 150 acres and has over 1,200 lilac shrubs of 500 different varieties. This park was constructed in 1888 and was known as one of the first municipal arboretums in the nation. One of the attractions at the Highland Park is a ‘carpet’ of over 10,000 flowers that take on a pattern which changes every year.
