Oakley Tour De France Collection
Performance Eyewear Label Celebrates Cycling Anniversary
Sports brand Oakley has launched another limited edition collection to coincide with the Tour De France. The eyewear brand is celebrating 30-years of association with the bike race event with three updated performance styles. The Eyeshade model (£200), first released in 1984, continues Oakley’s peripheral vision approach. Wide, wrap-around lenses, tinted with a special coating to reduce glare, sit in an anti-slip Unobtainium frame. A smaller Racing Jacket version (£200) uses interchangeable lens technology to switch between several light-responsive options. According to the firm, a stress-resistant O Matter frame material allows the style to be worn all day. Finally, the Radarlock Path (£255) carries cooling airflow surge ports as well as venting in the lenses for breathability. In addition to the multiple nose pads, the Radarlock comes with two lenses and custom Microclear bag. All three models share the same white colour way with yellow, green and red polka dot detail and Tour De France logo on the lens. Oakley rolled out a similar project in 2013, marking 100 years of the multiple stage sport. A statement from the Californian brand, which also produces items for golf, snowboarding, baseball and tennis, said: “Oakley athletes have challenged the road and pushed the progression of cycling; attacking mountain tops, surging sprint finishes and claiming overall victory of the most gruelling bike race in the world.” A winner of the 2014 event will be crowned on 27th July. The Oakley Tour De France collection is available to buy in store and online now.
