Movie Inspiration: The Devil Wears Prada

If you love fashion, chances are you have seen The Devil Wears Prada.

The film follows Andrea “Andy” Sachs, a young college graduate who is oblivious to the fashion world but lands a job working for Miranda, the editor-in-chief of Runway magazine. Andy is definitely not welcomed by her more fashion-forward coworkers, but the mag’s art director, Nigel, steps in to help her better fit in among others in the world of fashion.

Throughout the movie, Andy tackles the demanding tasks given by Miranda while also developing a better understanding of fashion along the way. Andy becomes more immersed in the fashion world, and also experiences the strain her job has on her personal life and relationships.

This flick is filled with so many chic outfits that it was difficult to pick just a few looks to focus on for this post! Although it was hard, I narrowed it down to three outfits worn by Andy (Anne Hathaway) and one ensemble worn by her unwelcoming coworker Emily (Emily Blunt). Scroll down to see all four looks:

The Transformation

This is one of the first looks Andy wore after Nigel helped her with her “transformation.” Andy swapped her cerulean blue sweater for a trendy ensemble that mixed neturals, which even earned her a rare smile from Miranda.

Dress, Earrings, Bag, Necklace, Boots, Coat, Tights

Recreate Andy’s post-makeover look by sprucing up a navy blue shift dress with a layered necklace. Next, add a black trench coat, a pair of black knee-high boots, and semi-sheer black tights. Incorporate that third neutral hue with a roomy brown handbag. Lastly, accessorize with a pair of classic gold hoop earrings.

The White Coat

Although this next outfit was only worn briefly in the movie, it is one of the most iconic looks from the film. This chic ensemble embraces whites and creams, which gives this outfit an ultra-chic and modern vibe.
