Exclusive First Look: L’Estrange Launches Debut Menswear Collection

It can be tough getting menswear right. That’s partly why L’Estrange spent the best part of three years focusing all its efforts on redefining the hoodie. And boy did it get that right. The brand won praise for the tailored cut and fine cotton lining of its suit-inspired yet smart-casual piece. Having achieved what it set out to in 2013, L’Estrange is now embarking on an much bigger task: “to update an entire wardrobe that answers the unmet needs of the man on the move.” With its first full collection, L’Estrange wants to take shirts, trousers and sweatshirts on the same journey as the hoodie, employing tailored fits with comfortable fabrics. The aim is to redefine the smart-casual category, which the brand says has stayed still for too long. We’d say it’s well on its way with pieces like the navy collared evening shirt, which features a contrasting textural pique knit on the reverse. “Success today has a new look; it doesn’t wear a tie,” said L’Estrange co-founder Tom Horne. “The rise of entrepreneurialism has redefined long established codes and conventions making our world a more dynamic place to be.” “L’Estrange is available now exclusively at the Shop at Bluebird in London and online at lestrangelondon.com and Opumo. Prices start from £125 for The Evening Shirt.
