Luka Doncic Rookie Card Sells for $4.6 Million
Luka Doncic has done something neither Michael Jordan nor LeBron James has achieved. The 22-year-old Slovenian has just made history after his 2018-19 National Treasures rookie card sold for a whopping $4.6 million. What I wouldn’t give to have a spare $5 million lying around to buy trading cards with…
In news that has left me searching through my cupboards looking for my old trading cards, the sale of Doncic’s rookie card is the biggest in basketball trading card history. It easily surpassed the $1.8 million received for Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James rookie cards sold at auction last year.

The card in question is a one-of-one autographed 2018-19 National Treasures Luka Doncic Rc Auto Logoman. While it certainly doesn’t look that spectacular, the 2018/19 National Treasures series is regarded as the premium set of trading cards amongst collectors. The fact this is the first Doncic card ever released, coupled with it featuring his signature and this being one of one, makes this piece of laminated card one of the rarest in existence.
Although paying this sort of money for a basketball card seems ridiculous, considering Doncic’s age and the talent he possesses, there’s a good chance the card could spike in value very quickly, making it a worthy investment.
