Katy Perry Single Needle Tattoo Design On Wrist
Each time Katy Perry is nearing the end of her tour cycle, she gets a tattoo representing one of her albums. In the aftermath of Witness: The Tour, she finally went ahead with her Witness tattoo on August 17, 2018, just days before the country’s end. The world tour began last September.
She has previously had three tattoos in very similar styles, turning symbols from the album into colorful cartoon characters with cutesy eyes. The previous three were all on her ankles, featuring strawberry, peppermint, and prism. The only thing different about this tattoo is that it is designed by a completely different tattoo artist, on a completely different body part, and it is done in a completely different style.
A Los Angeles-based artist called Dr. Woo jetted out to Sydney, Australia, to tattoo her and many other members of her crew. The tattoo artist is known for his intricate fine-line designs. He applied that signature style to this tattoo as well. The tattoo Dr. Woo designed for Kate was basically what Katy said she wanted as a Witness tattoo: “a form of an eye.” That design still holds true, but there are a lot more characteristics to it.
An architectural line is drawn through the white parts of the eye, which appear to be a ring around the pupil of the eye. The ring replicates the shape of the pupil of a planet. A twinkling star above symbolizes the life of a star and also creates a sense of outer space. The entire design has an almost spaceship-like feel, which is reinforced by the outer space feel. However, the corner of the eye is also marked by a teardrop.
