Bundy and Webster SS13 Collection

New British label Bundy and Webster have unveiled their capsule collection for SS13. The brand launched last October with the intention of collaborating with young artists from colleges and universities in the UK to create original t-shirts and sweatshirts. Providing a platform for the aspiring artists to showcase their talent, the blending of fashion and art has ensured that each piece effortlessly stands out from high street alternatives yet they still come in at an affordable price point. The SS13 collection was a product of collaboration with graphic designer Xenia Baumann and fine artist Jean Feline. In a step away from their much larger and colourful debut collection, this time around we see a monochrome theme, with the artists experimenting with lines and repeat patterns whilst retaining a sense of minimalism. The collection is limited to just six pieces: two sweatshirts and four tees. However, the label will also release smaller capsule collections throughout the season – each showcasing different artists. The SS13 t-shirts are the work of Baumann. The first design is ‘Council Estates’, which features an architectural style image of high rise buildings printed on the lower part of the t-shirt, and is available in both black and white. The second is ‘Zebra’, with this style incorporating an allover repreated zebra head pattern that comes in grey or white. Feline contributes the sweatshirts. First we have the ‘Cross’ design, which includes a red cross surrounded by green/blue lines – giving the piece a bold and iconic feel. However, the highlight of the collection comes in the form of the ‘Skull’ sweatshirt. Skulls continue to be an extremely popular graphic within menswear but this piece utilises geometric white shapes to create the formation of the skull, which is both refreshingly original and makes a real impact when set against the black background.
