How Is Korean Makeup Different From Western Makeup?

Much like Korean beauty and skincare products, Korean makeup is all about enhancing features on your face, achieving a youthful look and keeping your natural beauty.

Colors: Unlike Western makeup which has a focus on highly pigmented colors that pop on the face, Korean makeup focuses on more light and natural colors such as hues of pinks, oranges or browns to attain the desired look.

Koreans tend to keep clear of colors like greens or dark purples as these colors are considered “mature” and un-youthful.

Skin: Typically, Korean women use a foundation that leaves the skin dewy and radiant.

Korean women are very into their skincare, so most of them will have next to no blemishes, dryness or signs of aging to hide on their face. Make-up is used to further enhance their glowy, healthy skin – not to hide it.

Eyes: The way that Korean women use eyeliner is also slightly different to how women in the West do. Eyeliner is usually drawn so that the wing follows through with the shape of one’s eye hence leaving a natural wing.
