I adore sneaker collaborations like this. Just like Forest Gump’s mystical box of chocolates, you really never know what you’re gonna get when shoe brands join forces with the world’s greatest athletes.

This time, 2019 NBA Finals MVP and Team New Balance Athlete Kawhi Leonard is pulling out some crazy colorways for his signature shoe series. But instead of chocolate, it’s Kawhi’s favorite childhood candy from Hershey’s, Jolly Rancher.

Hitting the court during the highly anticipated NBA Western Conference Semifinals, alongside the famously happy Jolly Rancher fruit gang, New Balance and the Claw has a whole bunch of juicy gear for us all to share.

Giving you even more to suck on, the KAWHI Jolly Rancher collaboration includes ‘Original Flavors’ and ‘Blue Raspberry’, with the latter sold exclusively at New Balance and all Foot Locker outlets (Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, Champs Sports, Eastbay and Footaction).

Taking design inspiration from Kahwi’s deadpan expression, both on and off the court, the previously always-happy Jolly Rancher gang have lost their smiles in favor of a more serious look. An expression that Jonathan Grondin, New Balance’s Design Director for Basketball claims was born from “working closely” with the Los Angeles Clippers player.

“Working closely with Kawhi on this collaboration infuses more of his personality into his signature collection and allows him to further showcase his style,” explaining that Kahwi “wanted to ensure its design emulated the hard work he puts in on and off the court.

I am excited to see this launch during the 2020 NBA playoffs while Kawhi continues to put his stamp on the game and culture.” Though if you do look closely enough at the Blue Raspberry, you’ll find the one Jolly Rancher still laughing.
