Acne Studios Releases Its New SS16 Trainer Collection

Since Common Projects launched its no-fuss trainers, there’s no shortage of brands trying to muscle in on the minimalist market. But Acne Studios’ new collection may have just got them all beat, even the OG. As you’d expect from a brand known for its stripped-back approach to design, most of the new collection comes free of any detailing, each unsullied upper becoming heel and tongue with barely a mark. We’ll skip past the espadrilles and stitched Cuban heels – as should you – to focus instead on the Swedish brand’s superb low-top sneakers. Each is fashioned from premium calf leather uppers, ranging from obsidian to blinding all-white, which are stitched to super-comfortable and hardwearing rubber soles. The entire shoe is also entirely unbranded, bar the Acne Studios stamp to the insole, which makes even Common Projects gold serial seem decadent. But because we like our subtlety served with a little flair, our favourite from the new collection is the Triple Lo, which features one of this season’s biggest footwear trends, velcro fastenings, as well as an understated embossed logo to the side vamp. It’s the refined way to flash your labels. The Acne Studios SS16 shoe collection is available now at acnestudios.com, priced from £250.
