Looks on Campus: Yan Ni – University of Massachusetts Lowell
With internship season right around the corner, Yan Ni’s professional look is sure to give you major fashion inspiration. Her statement pants perfectly complement her sophisticated style.
Yan Ni is full of great style advice, but my favorite tidbit she shared with me is, “It’s easy to wear something you already own! You probably have business casual sweaters or tops in your closet; you just have to pair them with work-appropriate pants.” A lot of us don’t have closets full of professional pants, but having a staple pair or two would go a long way.
The most important thing she’s wearing? Confidence!

Let’s Talk Fashion
Who or what inspires your style? “I like Blake Lively. I [discovered her style after] binge watching Gossip Girl on Netflix. I follow Karlie Kloss a lot [too].”
Where do you like to shop? “For business casual [looks], I like to shop at Express and New York & Company. I don’t go shopping as much as I want to.”
How would you describe your sense of style? “Depends on the day! At work I have to dress business casual. I try to stick with sweaters, neutral colors, and dress pants. I am also a big fan of athleisure.”
Why did you choose this particular outfit? “These are my go-to work shoes. I bought them specifically for work because they are comfortable. I wear these pants because I get a lot of compliments on them. I usually wear a neutral or black sweater [with them].”
What fashion advice would you give students looking to improve their style? “Wear something that you feel good in. I definitely feel more confident when I like my outfit.”
