Create Your Own Soft Serve Ice Cream at Home with ColdSnap

This week the 2021 edition of the CES (Consumer Electronic Show) kicked off with a digital showcase. Among the new televisions and high tech toys being demonstrated, the best thing we’ve come across so far is ice cream maker ColdSnap.

The invention of tech company Sigma Phase, this smart looking ice cream maker uses pods to conjure delicious bowls of soft serve. Although still in the prototype stage, ColdSnap works similar to coffee pod machines. While it’s hard to imagine a pod can hold all the ingredients needed to create a bowl of cookies and cream, Sigma Phase is promising ColdSnap is the future of desserts.

Not only will you be able to enjoy your favorite ice cream flavors, but a variety of other pods will be available so you can savor a number of frozen treats. Pods touted include those that make frozen yogurt, frozen coffee, shakes, smoothies, slushies, and most importantly, frozen cocktails.

The recyclable pods use a built-in QR code that somehow ensures the ice cream is the right texture. The pods will come in dairy and non-dairy variations and are said to have a one-year shelf life. You will be able to get multiple servings out of each pod, with a price of $2.50 to $3.00 per pod.

To be honest, buying an ice cream maker when you can already purchase a tub of the good stuff from your local 7-Eleven seems a little pointless, but the ability to make frozen cocktails has me intrigued.

ColdSnap is set to go on sale sometime in 2022 and will set you back between $500 and $1,000.
