Frank Lloyd Wright is basically a household name at this point, especially in the mid-west where a home he designed, the Harper House in St. Joseph, Michigan, is now for sale after 25 years.

Dr. Ina M. Harper had ordered the 31,54 square foot home in 1954. The four-bedroom, two-bathroom abode is now listed by @propeties for $1.96 million.

The striking property is made of Chicago Common Brick and Tidewater Cypress. The L-shaped plan, which was the style at the time, has made its way back into the limelight as new generations come to adore Lloyd Wright’s expansive style.

Adding bonus value to the sale, a full set of furniture and a small art collection will come with the home. There is rumored to be a full-size reproduction of a Sprite among the works. This was a 1914 piece Lloyd Wright specifically produced for Midway Gardens.

After a quarter of a century, the home is making waves in the local market as well as with Lloyd Wright’s international fanbase. The Harper House is considered to be representative of the professional’s later projects, evidenced by fireplaces, stained glass, and big windows.

The floor-to-ceiling glasswork is not for naught by any means; the windows open up to the expressively natural views provided by scenic waters of Lake Michigan.

The house hasn’t been untouched since Lloyd Wright brought it to life years ago. At some point, before the current owners took possession of the home in 1996, there was a 1,700 square foot addition. The good news is that it was done by an apprentice of Lloyd Wright, Charles Montooth.

The property is now in excellent shape thanks to the full restoration the most recent owners completed. Those worried about authenticity can breathe a sigh of relief; the project was supervised by the Frank Lloyd Writhe Building Conservancy in Chicago.
