Metallica Team With Vans for 'Black Album' Commemorative Sneakers
This year marks 30 years since Metallica released their never-bettered 1991 classic self-titled album, otherwise known as the Black Album. The band is doing a number of things to celebrate, including re-releasing a remastered version of the album, a 53 track covers album entitled The Metallica Blacklist, and a whiskey with Blackened American Whiskey.
The latest collaboration finds the middle aged rockers teaming with Vans for newly designed pairs of the brand’s iconic Sk8-Hi and Classic Slip On sneakers.

The two shoes feature artwork from frequent Metallica collaborator Pushead, the man behind many of the band’s merch designs since 1986. Pushead’s famous Sad But True design – twin skulls facing each other – can be found on the side panels of the hi tops and on the front of the slip on. Other details include blue outlines, silver Metallica branding, and a printed Metallica logo on the heel.
The limited-edition Vans x Metallica collection will be available exclusively to Vans Family members on July 25 and on Metallica.com on July 26.
