Engineered Garments Clothing: AW13 Collection

Engineered Garments AW13 Collection

The story goes that upon seeing the level of precision and detailing required of the output of Japanese-born American fashion designer Daiki Suzuki’s first project with his new company, the hired pattern maker exclaimed that the clothes were not being designed but rather engineered – thereby giving birth to the company’s name. Engineered Garments’ latest collection does little to dismiss this as apocrypha, presenting an assortment of autumn/winter clothing laden with layers, excess features and a seriously good eye for the smallest touches of subversive flair. Featuring staples such as down vests, blazers, parkas and the company’s signature heritage/hunting-inspired pieces, Engineered Garments places emphasis on contrast detailing, bold prints and slim cuts. The result is a range packed full of statement pieces that will allow the wearer to stand effortlessly out from the crowd this autumn/winter. Highlights of the collection include a navy blue blazer with alternating-sized buttons and a muted tropical pattern applied to the lapel, along with a hooded winter coat seemingly designed upside down and back to front; it features large horizontal, diagonal and vertical pockets to the chest and waist, as well as a zip running the length of the back. Engineered Garments’ AW13 collection will be available in selected retailers later this year.
