Following our recent coverage of Christopher Raeburn’s outerwear collaboration with Victorinox, it’s safe to say the designer has been keeping busy. The winner of the British Fashion Award for Emerging Menswear Talent has just unveiled another team-up – this time with British heritage brand Fred Perry. Launching three polo shirts that incorporate Raeburn’s signature military aesthetic, the Christopher Raeburn x Fred Perry collection is inspired by three iconic camouflage designs used in the 1960s-1990s. First up is a piece sporting the German ‘Raindrop’ camo used in the 1960s and 1970s. Reservedly striking and practical, the design acts as a totem for the rest of the collection as well as the Christopher Raeburn craft. In keeping with the first design, the second draws on the American desert camo used in the early 1990s, which purposefully interfered with the pixelated images of night-vision technology. The final design comes in a crisp snow white camo, referencing the German uniform developed for 1960s mountain warfare. The three shirts are a subtle nod to military trends without being too over-the-top, marking their wearer as a man of both style and substance. Reflecting Raeburn’s strong utilitarian roots, each shirt comes with original pocket detailing and a parachute bag – because you never know when one might come in handy! Speaking of the collaboration, Raeburn said “I like the way that they [Fred Perry] have always been relevant to different generations, having grown up with Quadrophenia as a massive reference that has never really left me; it’s still a part of my creative practice. I wanted to bring a little of the Raeburn world to Fred Perry.” The collection is available online and in store now, with prices starting at £95.
