Easy Outfit Formulas: Chambray Shirt + Corduroy Pants

Photos: Target, Maurices

You know those days – the ones where you roll out of bed (after hitting the snooze button too many times), stumble into your closet, and have no idea what to wear? Our new series, Easy Outfit Formulas, is here to help! Every other week, I’ll feature two items (which you probably already own) that can be paired into outfits for those days when you need some quick and easy inspiration.

This week’s Easy Outfit Formula is a classic pairing of textures – chambray denim and corduroy. If you don’t yet have a chambray shirt in your closet, it’s a versatile piece that’s well worth the investment. Corduroy pants are the perfect complement (and a great alternative to denim-on-denim), plus they’re totally in this season!

What goes better with chambray and corduroy than a woodsy hike on a crisp fall day? For a rustic take on the formula, pair your favorite broken-in chambray shirt with a pair of forest green cords. Layer a neutral cable-knit sweater over the top for some extra warmth, then slip on a pair of brown lace-up boots. Throw your essentials in a fun printed backpack and complete the look with a pair of cute arrow earrings.

This next pairing is perfect for an internship or a casual office. Pair a crisp, light wash chambray shirt with some winter white corduroy pants, and dress it up with a black blazer. Add some sparkle with a statement necklace and glittery gold nails. To polish it all off, slip on a pair of chic black pointed-toe heels.
