The Luxurious Bugatti EB 112 Sedan Impresses Yet Again

When people talk about Bugatti in the 90s, the conversation always seems to fall on the EB 110 supercar. Sure, it was great, but how can we forget about the EB 112 sedan that had been debuted by Bugatti at the 1993 Geneva Auto Show?

Although the car never went into full-scale production, three prototypes were constructed. Only one of the three, however, was actually built by Bugatti in their factory.

The vehicle’s power stems from a 6-liter V12 with 450 horsepower. The five-speed transmission suits the build. Performance has been rated superb. Some have commented that the rendition seems to have the looks of Bugatti’s Veyron, particularly in the horseshoe grille.

Within the cabin, the keyword is luxury. Aluminum plates make a statement the same way they might have in the real deal Bugattis of the 1930s.

Bugatti presented some sophisticated rides in its history. For instance, the Bugatti Royale got plenty of attention back in the day. In the 1990s, Romano Artioli worked hard to bring back Bugatti’s glory decades later. The intention was to add a contemporary limousine to the roster.

From there, Giorgetto Giugiaro, Italdesigner co-founder, hammered out various designs until the EB 122 came to life. Inspiration is said to have come from the 57 SC Atlantic’s spine as well as the Tip 55 2 doors from the 1920s. Other respects are paid to Tip 32 and 57 Tank along the way.

At its time, Automobilia named the EB 112 the “most beautiful car in the world.”

The limousine could get to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, topping out around speeds of 186 mph. The car is said to handle much like a go-kart.

The first ride, chassis #39001, was completed at the Bugatti factory. Later, the marque went underwater, leaving one half-assembled car and a slew of parts left for auction. A Monegasque businessman worked on assembling chassis #39002 and #39903 after purchasing the leftovers.
