Bruno Mars Teams with Lacoste for New Fashion Line
Bruno Mars is a man of many talents. The artist behind chart-topping hits Grenade and Locked Out Of Heaven can now add fashion designer to his resume. Mars has teamed with Lacoste for a 70s inspired clothing line. Mars claims the items were created by his designer alter ego, “Ricky Regal.”
“When I’m on stage my name is Bruno Mars,” the pint-sized singer said. “When I’m making lavish luxurious garments, I go by Ricky Regal.” Fair enough.
The collaboration came about after Mars met with Lacoste creative director Louise Trotter. Mars was given free rein to come up with whatever he felt would represent both him and the Lacoste brand.
The sports luxury collection includes a wide range of items, including tracksuits, polos, shorts, t-shirts, pants, socks, slides, and aviator sunglasses. Some key pieces include red, mustard, orange, and forest green tracksuits, tie-dye shirts, and yellow and black slides.
“I’ve been very fortunate to have been asked to do collaborations in the past, but it always came with guidelines,” Mars commented in a statement. “Lacoste was the first and only brand that said ‘Bruno you can do whatever you want.’ The respect of such creative freedom coming from a heritage fashion house was an honor.”
The Lacoste x Ricky Regal collaboration will be available from March 8 at selected Lacoste boutiques and lacoste.com.
