Parachute by Plectrum: SS14 Collection
British heritage brand Ben Sherman has released its spring/summer 2014 lookbook, featuring the latest designs within its Plectrum label. Launched this month, the Parachute by Plectrum Collection utilises lightweight nylon fabrics to create technical pieces with a contemporary edge. Inspired by the construction of its namesake, the range features unique geometric prints and pairs the company’s iconic shirts with engineered shorts and bold blazers. During 2013, Ben Sherman celebrated its 50th anniversary – becoming one of the UK’s longest running men’s clothing brands. Recognised for its modernist heritage, the company was one of the first firms to start boxing shirts individually and claims to have played a key part in almost all of the style movements adopted across recent youth culture. The Ben Sherman Plectrum sub-line was introduced in 2008 and combines the company’s traditional styles with fresh and varied textures. Design Director Mark Williams has stated that the 2014 collection is no different, using a strong fabric to create “a new modern feel”. Future designs are expected to follow suit, mixing new premium materials with timeless British style to create modern reworks of classic silhouettes. The latest clothes and accessories are available online and in selected retailers now, with prices ranging between £20 and £349.
