Amazon Launches Wearable Technology Store

Online Retailer To Offer One Stop Shop

Wireless charging trousers designed by A. Sauvage have been made available to pre-order as part of the launch of Amazon’s new wearable technology store. The online retail giant unveiled a dedicated platform this week, featuring more than 100 devices from the likes of Sony, Jawbone and GoPro. Activity trackers, smart watches and glasses, wearable cameras and health kit are all available to buy. Alongside established brands, the outlet also stocks emerging names such as Basis and Misfit. After listing the advances in the sector, which now includes sleep monitor and pet trackers, Amazon’s Vice President of EU Retail, Xavier Garambois, spoke of offering customers a one stop shop. Meanwhile, Director of Consumer Electronics at the firm, Andrew Milliken, said the department will also aim to educate users. “The focus is also on providing customers with all the information they need to understand these new devices and make the best possible choice.” This will be delivered through a ‘learning centre’, which will hold product details, compatibility information, images and videos, reviews and buying guides, as well as expert recommendations. Initial launch products range in price from £5.40 for a cycling computer mount, to £569 for augmented reality glasses. The A. Sauvage Wireless Charging Trousers, previewed as part of London Collections: Men and due out in December, retail at £889 despite earlier reports placing them around £200.
