Converse x Maison Martin Margiela Collection
Converse have teamed up with French luxury label Maison Martin Margiela to create a limited edition collection of their signature Chuck Taylor All Star hi-top and low-top Jack Purcell. Each of the shoes is hand finished in Maison Martin Margiela’s iconic white paint – which covers the entire shoe including the canvas body, eyelets, laces and soles – resulting in a cracked, worn in effect as the white paint sheds and reveals the trainer’s original colour underneath.
“Converse is thrilled to partner with Maison Martin Margiela. The collection perfectly embodies each brand’s spirit of individuality and self-expression unifying Converse and Margiela’s conviction of unleashing creativity,” Matt Sleep, Converse Senior First String Designer.

French fashion house Maison Martin Margiela was founded in 1988 and are renowned for reinventing volumes, modifying shapes and changing the original use and movement of garments, derailing the classic notions of fashion. With the brand applying their distinct aesthetic style to classic Converse models, it offers the everyday male an altogether more subtle and gentle introduction to the world of high fashion. The use of the white paint gives the shoes a tactile quality, with the rough, cracked texture ensuring each pair is completely unique. In fact, the more the shoes are worn, the more their personality and colour is revealed as the white layer begins to flake away – making them a true representation of your lifestyle and the experiences you put them through.
“The Maison has always been obsessed with white; it is used as a layer to give an incognito feeling. A sort of poetry, with the passage of time, the shoe asserts itself,” Maison Martin Margiela.
Priced at £150, the shoes are available in four heritage colours taken from the Converse archives: red, black, navy and a Margiela exclusive vintage yellow. Each comes complete with a premium off white leather lining. Converse x Maison Martin Margiela trainers are on sale from this month at Margiela stores and select Converse First String retailers.
