adidas Pure Boost Trainers
New adidas Pure Boost Launches At Foot Locker
German sportswear brand adidas has made its running technology available in an everyday style for the first time. The latest Boost model pairs the firm’s responsive energy cushioning with a casual trainer silhouette.
First seen last year, the Boost sole uses fused pellets to disperse the force of impact. The 2014 Pure model, constructed with a breathable synthetic four-way stretch material, features a suede heel and comes in various colour ways.
The design team, pulled from adidas’ Sport Performance (Y-3) and Originals divisions, has also removed the sock liner to give the wearer direct contact with the cushioning.
According to Global Creative Director James Carnes, the idea is the result of wanting “something that was a more perfect combination of adidas style with the comfort capabilities of [the brand’s] best technologies”.
The company is hoping to tap into the growing sales of casual trainers, in a move to close the gap with rivals Nike.
It joins other versions in adidas’ technology arm, including the Energy Boost running shoes, Rocket and Supernova.
Speculation has now turned to other models that could be released by the firm in the coming months, including a basketball silhouette.
The adidas Pure Boost trainers are available in black, white, grey and orange exclusively from Foot Locker as of today, priced at £99.99.
