Watch the First Trailer for Zack Snyder's 'Army of the Dead'
Zack Snyder has ditched the superheroes for zombies with latest release Army of the Dead.
The film follows Scott Ward (Dave Bautista), a former hero in the fight against the undead who now finds himself flipping burgers. Ward is contacted by casino boss Bly Tanaka (Hiroyuki Sanada) who offers him a deal: break into the quarantined Las Vegas and steal $200 million from one of the casinos before the government nukes the city in 32 hours. His reward – $50 million.
Unable to say no, Ward gathers together a motley crew for the heist and enters the city, but is unprepared for what comes next.
As you can see from the trailer, these aren’t your ordinary brain-eating variety of zombies. They are much quicker and smarter and seem to be organized and are more than ready for Bautista’s crew. The use of “smarter” zombies is becoming more of a trend, so it will be interesting to see if Snyder can pull it off.
The addition of Kenny Roger’s “The Gambler” which plays during most of the trailer is a nice touch too, while we also see a zombie Elvis and a “goddam zombie tiger!”
Along for the ride are Ella Purnell (Sweetbitter), who plays Kate Ward, Scott’s daughter, Ana de la Reguera (Narcos, Nacho Libre), who takes on the role of Cruz, a former flame of Scott’s, Tig Notaro (Star Trek: Discovery) as a cigar-smoking gunman, and Matthias Schweighöfer (You Are Wanted) as a German safecracker, plus many more.
Army of the Dead is set to premiere in theaters on May 14 before arriving on Netflix on May 21.
