Denver Leisure and Sports

Denver has a great sports scene and rabid fans to aid that. The city has team sports in all major leagues. Invesco Field at Mile high is the home of soccer’s Colorado Rapids and the Denver Broncos of the National Football League. It seats 76,000 fans and sits just west of downtown. This stadium is also the home of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame. Coors Field seats 50,000 people and is located in Lower Downtown. It is the home of Major League Baseball’s Colorado Rockies. Then if you head to the Pepsi Center just outside of Lower Downtown you can catch a Denver Nuggets game in the NBA or the National Hockey League’s Colorado Avalanche.

Outdoors

If you are looking for something to do for fun, you will not be short of options in this wonderful city. For what it lacks in oceans and lakes, Colorado makes up ten fold in mountains and the some of the best snowboarding and skiing in the world. In addition, if you are a fan of hiking, Denver is your paradise. You can find dozens of trails that will challenge you the way you are hoping for within a 30 mile radius of Denver. There are also some great rafting companies in the area. Specifically, you can visit Clear Creek and its 15 miles of white water rafting that spans between Golden and Idaho Springs. Close by Loveland and Eldora will give you a place to try some fun cross country and downhill skiing. 80 miles away you can visit Vail which is one of the top ski resorts in the world. There is a permanent place to ski at St. Mary’s Glacier which just a few hours away from Denver and 11,000 feet above sea level. Aspen is another option for some world class winter sports. Generally frequented by the wealthy, Aspen has over 14,000 peaks to test yourself on. Not too far away is Colorado Springs which is just an hour south of Denver. It is the home of the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and the United States Air Fore Academy. Colorado Springs also offers a great deal of rafting, hiking, skiing and other outdoor activities.
