The Best Dressed Men At The BAFTAs

As Awards Season heats up, it was time for the British red carpet to be rolled out – and last night’s BAFTAs didn’t disappoint. La La Land’s Ryan Gosling might have been a no-show at the Royal Opera House, but the sartorial show went on thanks to masterclasses in red carpet style from both Hollywood and actual royalty. It’s time to bring the dinner suit out of hibernation.

Tom Ford

As Tom Ford continues his cinematic career, he’s racking up the best-dressed awards quicker than the film ones. Here, the Nocturnal Animals director pours a glass of merlot into a velvet jacket, with matching shirt studs adding a further red wine accent. We’ll drink to that.

Dev Patel

From a squeak in Skins to a roar in Lion, Dev Patel’s career isn’t the only thing that’s all grown up. The BAFTA winner swaps Anwar’s hoodies for all-round elegance, with a navy dinner suit providing an alternative (but by no means less stylish) substitute to typical red carpet clobber.

Luke Evans

The odds might be low on Luke Evans filling 007’s shoes, but with get-ups like this, we’ve no idea why. His Tom Sweeney three-piece wouldn’t look out of place at the Casino Royale, and those contrast lapels are sharp enough to cause some serious damage. Consider us shaken and very stirred.

Tom Hiddleston

Speaking of Bond candidates, after spending 2016 decked out in ‘I Heart TS’ vests, Hiddleston needed a rebrand to keep him in the running. Lucky for him, then, that this deep navy suit with contrast lapels and natty pocket square might just be enough to ensure he’s the one supping martinis next summer.

Eddie Redmayne

The white dinner jacket was the surprise hit of the night, with everyone from Andrew Garfield to Noel Clarke going ultra-formal. However, leave it to tailoring titan Eddie who ditches his usual Burberry get-up to take the crown in this debonair Dior example.
